Temporary High Risk Pool

I was just given the below information on the temporary high risk pool to be set up in the next 90 days. Seems I fall through the cracks once again. You have to have not had insurance for 6 months in order to be on it. I am on Cobra for one more year. If I lived 6 months without insurance to qualify for the Temporary high-risk pool  I will be bankrupt by then. The rest of the help comes in 2014....Geez also to late for me..what the hell???

Temporary high-risk pool
People without insurance because of pre-existing conditions will be able to tap into a temporary, high-risk pool that will be available within 90 days -- now that the bill has passed -- and be effective until the new health insurance rules take effect on Jan. 1, 2014. Any U.S. citizen or legal immigrant who has pre-existing conditions and who has been uninsured for at least six months will be able to tap into this temporary, high-risk pool.

Both the Senate bill and the reconciliation bill provide the same provisions. All will receive subsidized premiums. The pool will be established based on the rates for a standard population and may vary no more than 4 to 1 due to age. Maximum cost sharing will be limited to current Health Savings Account (HSA) law: $5,950 for an individual and $11,900 for a family in 2010.

A high risk pool is a state-subsidized health plan that provides coverage for individuals with pre-existing health care conditions who cannot purchase it in the private market. The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) creates a temporary federal high risk pool program, administered by the states, to provide coverage to individuals with pre-existing conditions who have been uninsured for at least 6 months.

The states Subsidized high risk pool does little to help people like me. Those that need the high risk pool are those that have medical issues and have trouble even working a job. Even if they can, Blue cross through the state is over $700a mo, How many can afford that? I cant! Thats 90% of my income without food, shelter.co pays, medication. So, I guess I have to choose, a roof over my head or health insurance. Cant afford both.

The temp high risk pool as you said is only offered to those that haven't had insurance for 6 months. How can someone like me live without Health insurance 6 months to qualify?

The truth is, you have to be Rich , dirt poor or healthy in the USA to get Health insurance. When you could go on welfare and be better off then working your ass off everyday, Thats a problem! Welfare provides money, food stamps, health care which all equals way more then I make working.
